our merino story

Why Merino?

We love that our merino baby clothes are soft, warm, and kind on the skin. Our extrafine merino wool fabric is never itchy, keeps kids comfy all year round, and is perfect for everyday basics. It’s hypoallergenic, wicks away moisture, regulates their temperature, and is incredibly durable. But those aren’t the only reasons we choose Woolmark and OEKO-TEX certified merino.

Woolmark ensures our merino meets stringent quality and performance criteria, while OEKO-TEX certification guarantees it’s free from harmful substances. These certifications cover the entire process, from farm to finished product, ensuring our merino is not only the best for your baby’s skin but also produced with sustainability and responsibility in mind.

We choose these certifications because they reflect our commitment to quality, safety, and ethical manufacturing for every family around the world.

supporting sustainability and community

Where do you source your wool?

At the heart of our merino products is the exceptional quality of Australian merino wool.

Sourced from dedicated Australian woolgrowers, this wool is renowned for its unparalleled softness and performance.

Certified by Woolmark, these woolgrowers work tirelessly to care for their sheep and the land they graze on, maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental stewardship.

Our merino wool is sourced from family-owned farms across Australia, where the wool industry plays a vital role in supporting rural and regional communities.

made well

Who makes the clothes?

All our merino products are expertly crafted at a trusted factory in Jiangsu, China, where we have proudly partnered for the past 9 years. We are closely connected with our team in China, corresponding with them every day and truly loving the collaboration.

We ensure that all employees are freely employed, fairly compensated, and work in excellent conditions. They receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance and a provident fund, and work in a catered environment.

The team in China not only excels in craftsmanship but also supports the local community. They have made numerous generous donations to local schools including a facility for orphaned children and a facility for children living in remote mountainous regions.

Processing

After the wool is sorted, graded, scoured, rinsed, and dried to remove impurities, our Australian merino wool is carefully carded and combed to align the fibers, creating the high-quality wool top. This wool top is then dyed using OEKO-TEX approved processes, free of toxic chemicals, ensuring vibrant, safe colors for your baby’s delicate skin.

Spinning

After processing, the wool top is spun into yarn, twisting and aligning the fibers to impart strength and elasticity. The yarn may then be plyed by twisting multiple strands together to create a balanced texture. Following this, the yarn is set by steaming or heat setting to stabilize its structure and ensure it maintains its shape. Finally, the yarn is wound onto spools or skeins, ready for weaving or knitting into fabric.

Knitting

The yarn is knitted into a range of merino fabrics, including single jersey for softness, interlock for durability, rib for flexibility, and fleece for warmth, each showcasing the wool's natural comfort and performance.

Sewing

During cutting and sewing, our garment makers seek perfection in each item and check every stitch to ensure the quality and consistency.

Wearing

This is where you come in!

Wearing merino wool is an exceptional experience, offering unmatched comfort with its softness and natural temperature regulation. It keeps you cool in the heat and warm in the cold, while its moisture-wicking and odour-resistant properties keep you feeling fresh all day.
