OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s most recognised certifications for textile safety. It ensures our fabrics are free from harmful substances — so they’re safe for you, your baby, and the planet.

Independently tested for 100+ harmful substances
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification means every certified product has been independently tested by accredited laboratories for over 100 harmful substances, including formaldehyde, heavy metals, phthalates, and pesticide residues. This rigorous process is completely third-party — so you can trust that the safety claims aren’t just marketing, but verified by science.

Certified safe for babies (Class 1)
Our OEKO-TEX® certified garments meet the strictest level of the standard: Class 1, designed specifically for babies and young children. This means the safety requirements are tighter than any other category, with lower limits on chemical residues to ensure maximum skin compatibility for the most sensitive skin.

Every fibre, stitch and dye matters
Unlike some textile standards that focus only on raw fabrics, OEKO-TEX® tests every component in the final product — including threads, sewing trims, labels, linings, prints, and even snaps or zippers. This ensures the entire garment your baby wears is free from harmful substances, not just the visible parts.

Re-tested every year
OEKO-TEX® certification isn’t a one-off. Our certified suppliers undergo annual retesting to maintain compliance with evolving health and environmental standards. This ensures that Babu garments meet the latest scientific safety benchmarks — not just when they’re first made, but year after year.

OEKO-TEX® FAQ's
Why aren't all of your products OEKO-TEX® certified?
Some of our products — particularly our organic cotton ranges — are certified under GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) instead. GOTS already includes rigorous chemical and safety standards similar to OEKO-TEX®, while also covering the full organic and ethical production chain.
What does “Class 1” mean?
OEKO-TEX® divides certifications into four classes based on the product's intended use. Class 1 is the highest standard and is designed for products used by babies and infants, meaning they must meet the strictest limits for chemical safety.
How can I tell which products are OEKO-TEX® certified?
